Spooky!

Something weird happened last night.

I was fixing the bed and telling the kids to turn the tv off as it was time for bed. About five seconds after I said it, the tv was turned off. By itself.

I was in the middle of the bed, hubby was sitting on the big bed tapping on the laptop, Faith was lying near me and Josh was sitting on the floor a little to the left of the tv. The remote control was lying very near the tv. No way it was one of us. I looked at the hubby and asked, "What was that?!". He didn't know. The kids just said the angels turned it off, mommy.

Needless to say, I didn't sleep very well last night. I remember thinking of all the unexplained instances that have happened to me in the past. And I dreamt about a ghost in the house.

I can't count the number of times something like this has happened.

There was the time the hubby and I were napping in the afternoon (no kids yet) and the radio was on. We both woke up when the volume was turned to maximum level. Remote was on top of the stereo. The volume dial was turned all the way to maximum. Whoever it was wanted us to wake up, I guess.

Several times when I was alone with baby Joshua, I felt a presence. Usually happens when we were napping. I'd suddenly be very aware, all the hairs on my arms would stand on end and I absolutely knew I didn't want to open my eyes. So I would just cuddle closer to the baby.

It lessened after Faith was born. Maybe because there was more noise. But appliances being turned off kept happening (even at my parents' house). There've been too many instances to write them all down. Things that happened when I was still living in my parents' house with my sisters. A frightening incident at my dorm when I was awakened by a sharp pinch on my chest and saw two pairs of small glowing red eyes hovering over me and I couldn't move. I don't know if it was a nightmare but I always felt uncomfortable and slightly scared in that room. The feeling stopped when I transferred to the adjacent room.

Of course, there could be an explanation for all of it. Most of the time, I just shrug it off.
Last night I remembered my grandmother's death anniversary is on Monday. So maybe she was helping me get the kids ready for bed.

At least it was a friendly helpful spirit and even the kids think it was the angels...

This sort of stuff happens occasionally to me too. Inexplicable things. Presences. I get really spooked out but I have to check myself because I get really scared. I DON'T LIKE IT! Emma sees stuff that isn't there all the time. She freaks me out. I KNOW its her fertile imagination but it plays havoc with mine - she ends up having to comfort me. (At least she hasn't said 'I see dead people' yet 'cause otherwise I'm not sure just what I will do!)

Scary! I spent the night in a haunted hotel once. Nothing interesting happened there though. A little disappointed, a little relieved. Maybe you have a guardian angel looking after your family :)

Oooh.. That certainly sounds scary! I hope its nothing to worry about though. I feel tat if we don't disturb them they wont disturb us. =|

mench, i can relate, with the notable exception of the GLOWING RED EYES! that would have sent me under the bed for sure.

i have "electrical" things happen to me more often than "normal"--lights burn out, hard discs die, dishwashers sputter. i honestly think it has to do with one's electrical field. whether that is scientific or mystical i cannot say..

this might mean you are special in a good and receptive way...

ooooooooooooooh that's so spooky.

As long as you're not totally freaked by it and it doesn't feel intrusive ... then ...oh god! I don't know.

It's so spoooooooky.

Wow that is spooky about the TV and the radio. I believe that there can be presence!

Yes, very spooky.

I've had spooky experiences when I've been asleep. One that really freaked me out was when I felt unable to move when I was about to wake up. When I tried to scream no voice would come out. This has happened to me a lot in the past. It feels as if someone's pressing down on top of me. It's so scary. A few times I've also felt something stroking my hair. The scariest thing ever was when I heard an evil laugh in my ear. Hasn't happened for a while. Hope it never does, either!

How old is the house/ wiring etc,

I am sure there is a logical explanation, my first thought was of unlimited ability to travel around the spiritual plane, yet the spirit decides it would be more fun to watch TV at menchies:)

Now thats a compliment.

On the whole spirit thing i am not convinced yet... I guess i would like to believe

Maybe you will soon need a new television set :-)

Menchie there are so many unexplained phenomena but I would not want to be scared.

Mench, I cannot help it but my hairs are standing reading this post of yours. If such things happen in my house, I will freak out. Most likely I will get a taoist to come over to my house to "take a look". :)

Are you trying to scare me?! hehe I haven't had many odd experiences like that, but there was one that Aidan and I shared... we were walking along a road in Plymouth, England, with a cliff down to our right and a castle up the hill on our left. Nothing was really happening, we were just walking and talking. Then all of a sudden we both started feeling really uncomfortable, for no real reason. We turned around and as soon as we left the area we both felt better. The feeling happened again when we returned there later as a test. It was like that little place was haunted or something.

Also my mother once told me about a night, years and years ago, when my father was away on business and my brother and I were very young. She felt a presence in the room and got a bit freaked out, and then she found out the next day that her grandmother had died - and mum thought she'd come to say goodbye.

Hope you're OK, Menchie. We're all missing you!

hey! there better be a good and interesting reason why you're not blogging--not a spooky one!

haha!

Keshi,
you actually saw one??? Do tell!

just got back from vacation. that's why i was missing in action. :D

pacha,
i agree. I don't like it either. Plus sometimes Faith scares me too. Like i think she sees something that not everyone does. Scares the heck out of my mom.

nicole,
i wouldn't even set foot in a place that's known to be haunted much less sleep there! that was brave of you!

VBR,
oooops! sorry! hope this didn't scare you too much.

Princess,
Yeah, most of the time I don't make a big deal out of it. Heard that if you don't acknowledge it it will go away. Will get to your tag in a while. :D

kj,
i quite agree to your theory on electrical fields. but i do think that presences are real. :D

caroline,
oh it does freak me out. but i try to control myself as i don't want to scare the kids too much.

sabinem,
me too! :D

marie,
that evil laugh is really scary! that first thing you described always happens to me too! Less now that I have kids but it used to happen when I was in bed alone.

aidan,
it'a fairly new structure, about 7 years old. My dad had it built just before i got married. he tore down the old structure and everything is new, even the wiring.

HA! ghosts like my tv!

Ces,
It's weird but the tv's fairly new too. One of the things we bought after the wedding when we furnished our apartment. around 7 years old. but maybe that's old. :D

NP,
thanks! will get on it when i have more time. :D

janice,
i was just in your neck of the woods! :D

stace,
i hear England is the most haunted place on earth. there are certainly tons of books and stories about it. at least you were with Aidan! Imagine if you had been walking alone?

Wow. Menchie, this all sounds spooky, yet amusing at the same time...except for the part about waking up with a sharp pain in your chest. All fun ends when physical pain is involved.

I'm a little freaked out right now. And I'm one of the living dead.

Ms. val,
That dorm episode really freaked me out. the house episodes aren't as scary though. :D

grundir,
*gasp* you?! Freaked out???
